SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dasie Lee Robinson-Hightower, who passed away on June 2, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Dasie Robinson-Hightower was born on August 14, 1930 in Grenada, Mississippi; her parents were Johnny and Cora Lamon; and

WHEREAS, Dasie Robinson-Hightower attended school in Grenada, Mississippi and received nursing training in Hayti, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, Dasie Robinson-Hightower was employed by the Olin Corporation for more than 30 years until her retirement; and

WHEREAS, Dasie Robinson-Hightower enjoyed visiting the sick and helping those in need; she also served on the Mother's Board at True Church House of Prayer under the leadership of the late Pastor Fred Woodard; and

WHEREAS, Dasie Robinson-Hightower was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Edward Hightower; her second husband, Tom Frank Robinson; her brothers, Mose Lamon and Frankie Burden, and her sister, Clara Allen; and

WHEREAS, Dasie Robinson-Hightower is survived by 8 children, Josephine Scruggs, Edward Hightower (Barbara), Calvin Hightower (Barbara), Clarence Hightower (Beverly), Eddie Hightower, Robert Hightower, Andy Hightower (Charlotte), and JoAnn Hightower Thomas (Bobby); 4 sisters, Essie Denton (Otis), Marie Battle (Jimmy), Mary Mays (Robert), and Joyce Burden; 3 brothers, Harvey Burden, James Burden (Gertie), and Alex Burden; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Dasie Lee Robinson-Hightower; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dasie Robinson-Hightower as an expression of our sympathy.
