| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Col. James Edward Wick of Arrowsmith, who |
| 4 | | passed away on May 22, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Wick was born in Danvers on January 19, 1931 |
| 6 | | to Melvin Henry and Iva Toy (nee Girdler) Wick; he married |
| 7 | | Lorene "Dolly" Wellenreiter on February 5, 1950 at Trinity |
| 8 | | Lutheran Church in Bloomington; he served in the United States |
| 9 | | Army and settled in Arrowsmith in 1957; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Jim Wick worked as a farmer for much of his life; |
| 11 | | he served as a volunteer fireman in Arrowsmith for 42 years and |
| 12 | | as fire chief for 36, and had been an auctioneer since 1960; |
| 13 | | and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Jim Wick was a member of Witt-Webber-Carrell Post |
| 15 | | 617 American Legion for 55 years, serving as commander for 12; |
| 16 | | he was a member of Arrowsmith United Methodist Church for 40 |
| 17 | | years, Arrowsmith Township Supervisor for 28 years, a Farm |
| 18 | | Bureau board member for nearly 20 years, and 4-H superintendent |
| 19 | | and leader for many years; he also belonged to Quality Sheep |
| 20 | | Breeders, the Central States Threshermens Reunion, the |
| 21 | | American Polled Hereford Association, and the American |
| 22 | | Corriedale Association; and
