| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Joseph Francis Callahan of Crystal Lake, |
| 4 | | who passed away on March 11, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Callahan was born on September 14, 1928 in |
| 6 | | Chicago; his parents were John and Anne Callahan; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Callahan graduated from DePaul University |
| 8 | | in Chicago; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Callahan served his country as a member of |
| 10 | | the United States Navy, retiring at the rank of Commander; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, In 1944, Joseph Callahan joined Sears, Roebuck and |
| 12 | | Co., where he held various marketing and finance positions for |
| 13 | | 44 years, eventually becoming Director of Headquarters |
| 14 | | Merchandising Systems; after retiring from Sears in 1988, he |
| 15 | | joined the Art Institute of Chicago, where he worked until his |
| 16 | | retirement in 1993; he continued to work with several local |
| 17 | | businesses in the community and volunteered much of his time; |
| 18 | | he also served as co-chair of many groups, in which he found |
| 19 | | time to individually help people going through crisis |
| 20 | | situations; and
