| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Robert L. Myers of Moline, who passed |
| 4 | | away on January 7, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Robert Myers was born on March 21, 1986 in |
| 6 | | Independence, Missouri; his parents were Julie Burke Myers and |
| 7 | | Gary L. Myers; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Robert Myers attended Knoxville schools, |
| 9 | | graduating from Knoxville High School in 2004; he later earned |
| 10 | | his associate's degree from Carl Sandburg College and his |
| 11 | | Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Western |
| 12 | | Illinois University; he then attended the University of Hawaii |
| 13 | | and Rutgers University before obtaining his Master of Arts in |
| 14 | | Criminal Justice from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa |
| 15 | | in 2013; while in high school, he was invited to attend the |
| 16 | | Illinois Teenage Institute with the Peers with Advanced |
| 17 | | Leadership Skills Program at Millikin University; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Robert Myers served his country as a member of the |
| 19 | | United States Navy; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Robert Myers worked at the Knox County Teen Court |
| 21 | | for 3 years, having served as juror, defense attorney, |
|

| 1 | | prosecuting attorney, and bailiff; he worked as a Digital Media |
| 2 | | Consultant for the Quad City Times in Davenport, Iowa, worked |
| 3 | | for security at I Wireless in Moline, and assisted Illinois |
| 4 | | State Senator Michael Jacobs and Congressman Bobby Schilling on |
| 5 | | their political campaigns; while in college, he established a |
| 6 | | book company as owner and operator under the title of Grammy's |
| 7 | | Books; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Robert Myers attended the First Presbyterian |
| 9 | | Church in Galesburg, where he served as a Deacon and |
| 10 | | participated with the Presbyterian Youth Club and other |
| 11 | | committees; he was also an Illinois High School Association |
| 12 | | basketball official and was affiliated with the Masons |
| 13 | | Davenport Lodge #37 in Davenport, Iowa; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Robert Myers enjoyed the outdoors, running |
| 15 | | marathons, golfing, and fishing; he was also an avid fan of the |
| 16 | | Chicago Cubs, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Mallards and Notre |
| 17 | | Dame sports teams, among many others; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Robert Myers was preceded in death by his father, |
| 19 | | Gary L. Myers; his maternal grandfather, Robert L. Burke; his |
| 20 | | paternal grandfather, Forrest "Gene" Myers; and his uncle, |
| 21 | | Robert Myers; and
|
| 22 | | WHEREAS, Robert Myers is survived by his daughter, Ashlyn |

| 1 | | Myers; his mother, Julie Burke Myers; his sisters, Jessica |
| 2 | | Myers and Tiffany Myers; his maternal grandmother, Margaret |
| 3 | | Burke; his paternal grandmother, Alice Myers; his aunts, Linda |
| 4 | | (Roger) Lamm, Karen Allen, Debbie (Randy) Shreeves, and Becky |
| 5 | | (Tom) Nyman; his uncle, Terry Myers; and his many cousins and |
| 6 | | close friends; therefore, be it

| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
| 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
| 9 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert L. Myers; and |
| 10 | | be it further
|
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 12 | | presented to the family of Robert Myers as an expression of our |
| 13 | | sympathy.
