| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Bernard J. "Bernie" Cobb, Sr. of | ||||||
| 4 | Naperville, who passed away on January 7, 2014; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Bernard Cobb, Sr. was born on October 10, 1941 in | ||||||
| 6 | Chicago to Sylver and Mary Cobb; he attended Quigley | ||||||
| 7 | Preparatory Seminary South and graduated from William R. Harper | ||||||
| 8 | High School in Chicago in 1960; he married Carol in 1966; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Bernard Cobb, Sr. worked with the Sign & Pictorial | ||||||
| 10 | Painters of America as a gold-leaf draftsman and began his | ||||||
| 11 | career with H.M. Witt & Co. Signs in Chicago; during this time, | ||||||
| 12 | he earned numerous scholarships to the Art Institute of Chicago | ||||||
| 13 | and continued his studies at the American Academy of Art; in | ||||||
| 14 | 1970, he began attending Leadership Techniques, Inc. sales | ||||||
| 15 | training and began selling the Leader Tech Tiger School | ||||||
| 16 | programs; he began selling real estate in 1972 at Naperville's | ||||||
| 17 | Thorsen Realtors and in 1978 he joined RE/MAX of Naperville; | ||||||
| 18 | teaming up with his wife, and later his sons, he formed "The | ||||||
| 19 | Cobb Team-Families Helping Families" and continued as a top | ||||||
| 20 | agent until he retired from RE/MAX in 2007; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Bernard Cobb, Sr. always had a passion for art and | ||||||
| 22 | painting; he reignited that passion after retirement at the | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Palette and Chisel Art Club in Chicago, producing over 500 | ||||||
| 2 | paintings in his home studio; he served on the club's board of | ||||||
| 3 | directors for several years; he also enjoyed fishing, | ||||||
| 4 | especially in Canada, vacationing out West, and viewing art | ||||||
| 5 | galleries; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Bernard Cobb, Sr. was the beloved husband of Carol | ||||||
| 7 | (nee Pecho) Cobb; the loving father of Bernard J. "Bernie" | ||||||
| 8 | (Vickie) Cobb, Jr. and Christopher (Susan) Cobb; the adored | ||||||
| 9 | grandfather of Courtney, Kyle, Carley, and Porter Cobb; the | ||||||
| 10 | devoted son of the late Sylver and Mary Cobb; the dear brother | ||||||
| 11 | of Judy (Bill) Desmond, Mary Ellen Cosgrove, Diane (the late | ||||||
| 12 | Larry) Kelly, and the late David (Charlotte) Cobb; the fond | ||||||
| 13 | brother-in-law of Marge Pecho and Victor (Pat) Pecho; and the | ||||||
| 14 | adored uncle of many and loving owner of his dog, Thor; | ||||||
| 15 | therefore, be it

| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 18 | Bernard J. "Bernie" Cobb, Sr., and extend our sincere | ||||||
| 19 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
| 20 | him; and be it further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 22 | presented to the family of Bernard Cobb, Sr. as an expression | ||||||
| 23 | of our deepest sympathy.
