SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Arthur Dale Welton, who passed away on May 29, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Welton graduated from Warren High School in 1958; he subsequently graduated from Parsons College in Iowa; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Welton served his country in the United States Army Corps (Reserve) from 1958 to 1965; he married Lynn Windhorst in 1968; and

WHEREAS, After college, Arthur Welton returned to Gurnee and taught in the Gurnee School District; he later worked in the family grocery business; he volunteered as a Gurnee fireman for 25 years and was certified as one of the first paramedics; he also served on the Gurnee Park Board for many years; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Welton was a lifelong member of Gurnee Community Church and actively supported Boy Scout Troop 77; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Welton was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed the Boundary Waters; he also loved to canoe the Des Plaines River and camp and kayak at a moment's notice; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Welton was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mary Welton; his wife, Lynn; and his nephew, A.G. Hancock; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Welton is survived by his children, David (Stephanie), Rebecca (Rob) Narrajos, and Amy; his grandchildren, Evelynn, Jonas, Delilah, Jill, and Bo; his brothers and sisters, Maryann (Dr. Manooch) Sharifi, Dick (Debby) Welton, Harry (Gail) Welton, Martha (Marvin) Schmidt, Bill (Annette) Welton, Sara (Al) Hancock, and Nancy (Jim) Hayner; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Arthur Dale Welton; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Arthur Welton as an expression of our sympathy.
