SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Illinois State Trooper James Sauter of 
4Vernon Hills, who gave his life in the line of duty on March 
528, 2013; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Trooper Sauter had been a member of the Illinois 
7State Police since June 2008 and patrolled District 15; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, In October 2008, as a cadet, Trooper Sauter was 
9awarded the Lifesaving Medal for rescuing a woman who had been 
10injured in a motorcycle accident; and
  
 
  
11    WHEREAS, Trooper Sauter grew up in Chicago Ridge and played 
12football and baseball at Richards High School; he graduated 
13from Lewis University and was a licensed pilot; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Trooper Sauter was the beloved husband of 
15Elizabeth (nee Cowan); cherished son of Donald and Eileen (nee 
16Giuffre); brother of Matthew; dearly loved grandson of MaryLou 
17Sauter; dear son-in-law of Robert and Christine Cowan; 
18cherished brother-in-law of Rebecca (Anthony) Ferraro; loved 
19nephew of Kathleen (Gary) Stevens, Patricia Duffin, Maureen 
20(Robert) Curran, and Anne (Paul) Oles; he will also be dearly 
21missed by his Illinois State Police family and many other

1beloved relatives and friends; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor the memory of 
4Trooper James Sauter, mourn his passing, and extend our sincere 
5condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved 
6him; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the family of Trooper Sauter as an expression of 
9our deepest sympathy.
