| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of James A. Burton Jr. of Springfield, who |
| 4 | | passed away on May 11, 2013; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, James Burton Jr. was born on June 17, 1941, in |
| 6 | | Springfield; his parents were James A. Burton Sr. and Eurlene |
| 7 | | Jackson; he was married to Cheryl N. Burton for many years; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, James Burton Jr. served his country with pride as |
| 9 | | a member of the United States Navy from 1959 to 1965; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, James Burton Jr. was the owner of the "Mr. |
| 11 | | Burton's" clothing store and several record stores; he also |
| 12 | | sold cars at Charlie Satler's for many years; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, James Burton Jr. attended St. John A.M.E. Church; |
| 14 | | he was also an active member of American Legion Post #809, |
| 15 | | where he served as a Past 1st and 2nd Vice Commander; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, James Burton Jr. was preceded in death by his |
| 17 | | parents and his sister, Edna Mae Anderson; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, James Burton Jr. is survived by his sons, Richard |
| 19 | | Burton and Shane Burton (Felicia); his daughters, Alice Hicks |
