SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Renee Schoonover of Fisher, who passed 
4away on March 9, 2013; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Renee Schoonover served as the executive 
6secretary to the director at Lincoln's Challenge Academy in 
7Rantoul; in that capacity and as a case worker, she helped to 
8turn around the lives of countless young people over her 
917-year career there; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Renee Schoonover was in charge of preparing the 
11academy's team for GED Jeopardy, a scholastic competition, and 
12led the team to victory on numerous occasions; and

  
 
13    WHEREAS, Renee Schoonover served her country as a member of 
14the United States Air Force for over 20 years; she was awarded 
15the Air Force Commendation Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters, the 
16Air Force Achievement Medal, the Air Force Outstanding Unit 
17Award with 2 oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Good Conduct 
18Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters, the National Defense Service 
19Medal, the Air Force Overseas Ribbon (long tour), the Air Force 
20Longevity Service Award ribbon with 3 oak leaf clusters, the 
21Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Military Education 
22ribbon, and the Air Force training ribbon for her meritorious

1service; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
4her family and friends, the passing of Renee Schoonover; and be 
5it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of Renee Schoonover as an expression of 
8our sympathy.
