| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Edward A. Marolt, who passed away on |
| 4 | | February 18, 2013; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Edward Marolt was born on June 2, 1926, in |
| 6 | | Waukegan; his parents were John and Helen Marolt; he married |
| 7 | | Theresa Marolt in 1950; she passed away in 1975; in 1989, he |
| 8 | | met Barbara Mathias and they were married on April 21, 1990, at |
| 9 | | Mother of God Church in Waukegan; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Edward Marolt served his country with pride as a |
| 11 | | chief radar operator on the USS Salerno Bay from 1944 to 1946; |
| 12 | | and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, After his honorable discharge from the Navy, |
| 14 | | Edward Marolt went to work at the Mill for over 25 years, |
| 15 | | following in his father's footsteps; he also worked at Dynapar |
| 16 | | as a custodian until his retirement; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Edward Marolt enjoyed dancing, listening to polka |
| 18 | | music, traveling to his favorite vacation spot in Galena, |
| 19 | | eating a good steak, and watching the Chicago Cubs and Chicago |
| 20 | | Bears; and
|
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Edward Marolt was the Vice President of St. Mary's |
| 2 | | KSKJ Lodge #53; he was a member of the US Steelworkers and a |
| 3 | | member of the 'Southside Gang', which included his friends Iggy |
| 4 | | Hodnik, Rudy Hodnik, Johnny Brencheck, Jim Kern, and Richard |
| 5 | | Hyde; he was an active member of Queen of Peace Church, Most |
| 6 | | Blessed Trinity Parish in North Chicago, where he and his wife |
| 7 | | served as Hospitality Ministers for the 7:30 AM Sunday Mass for |
| 8 | | many years; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Edward Marolt is preceded in death by his parents; |
| 10 | | his brothers, Albert, John, and Lou; his sisters, Jennie, |
| 11 | | Helen, and Josephine; and his first wife, Theresa; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Edward Marolt is survived by his wife, Barbara; |
| 13 | | his sister, Frances Ogrin; his stepchildren, Vincent (Brenda) |
| 14 | | Mathias, Valerie (JJ) Steinhoff, Vickie (David) Hammergren, |
| 15 | | and Vivian Gaede; his grandchildren, Heather Mathias, Philip |
| 16 | | and Samantha Gaede, Joseph and Matthew Mathias, and Sarah and |
| 17 | | Sophia Steinhoff; his great-grandchildren, Ethan and Anya; his |
| 18 | | special nephews, Gary (Sue) Marolt and Lou (Sandy) Marolt; his |
| 19 | | special nieces, Pinky (Sam) Cameli and Joyce (Joe) Ptasienski; |
| 20 | | and his many nieces, nephews, and close friends; therefore, be |
| 21 | | it
