| 1 | | AN ACT concerning nursing home residents' rights.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the |
| 5 | | Nursing Home Residents' Managed Care Rights Act.
|
| 6 | | Section 5. Findings.
The General Assembly finds that |
| 7 | | elderly Illinoisans residing in nursing homes have the right |
| 8 | | to:
|
| 9 | | (1) Quality health care regardless of the payer.
|
| 10 | | (2) Care prescribed by their doctor.
|
| 11 | | (3) A simple appeals process when care is denied.
|
| 12 | | (4) Make decisions about their care.
|
| 13 | | (5) Continue to live in the care center they call home.
|
| 14 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 15 | | becoming law.
