| 1 | | AN ACT concerning education.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections |
| 5 | | 10-20.55 and 34-18.48 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/10-20.55 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 10-20.55. School building construction; consultation. |
| 8 | | (a) A school board must consult with law enforcement and |
| 9 | | security experts in the design and planning stages of the |
| 10 | | construction of any new school building or any additions to or |
| 11 | | major remodeling of an existing school building. |
| 12 | | (b) This Section applies only to buildings that students |
| 13 | | physically occupy. This Section does not apply to |
| 14 | | out-buildings, maintenance buildings that are not affixed to |
| 15 | | existing school buildings, or concession stands. This Section |
| 16 | | applies only to construction, additions, or remodeling that |
| 17 | | meets the requirements of Section 10-20.21 of this Code.
