1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of

3 Representatives wish to congratulate the members of the Polish

4 American Police Association of Chicago and Illinois on the

5 occasion of the organization's 50th anniversary; and

6 WHEREAS, The Polish American Police Association of Chicago

7 and Illinois is a social and fraternal organization for Chicago

8 police officers and their families who are of Polish and Slavic

9 descent; the association was founded in 1964 under the guidance

10 of the late Assistant Deputy Superintendent Paul S. Jankowski;

11 and

12 WHEREAS, The Polish American Police Association is a

13 proactive organization interested in fostering the fraternal,

14 ethnic, cultural, educational, civic, charitable, political,

15 and professional interests of its members and the Polish-Slavic

16 communities; the association provides financial and manpower

17 support for various social service and professional

18 organizations that provide services to the immigrant and

19 Polish-American community; and

20 WHEREAS, Over the past 50 years, the Polish American Police

21 Association has grown beyond the City of Chicago and now

22 encompasses members from various local, state, county, and

1 federal law enforcement agencies within the State of Illinois

2 and across the country; the association currently has more than

3 400 active and association members and maintains contact with

4 members who are police officers in Poland; and

5 WHEREAS, The Polish American Police Association hosts

6 numerous activities, including monthly general membership

7 meetings, a yearly race track outing, a family picnic,

8 participation in the Polish Constitution Day Parade, and an

9 annual dinner dance recognizing individuals whose

10 accomplishments reflect pride in their heritage and have a

11 positive impact on the community; therefore, be it

12 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

13 NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

14 we congratulate the members of the Polish American Police

15 Association of Chicago and Illinois on the occasion of the

16 organization's 50th anniversary and wish them continued

17 success in the future; and be it further

18 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

19 presented to the Polish American Police Association as a symbol

20 of our esteem and respect.
