HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. Christine Mueller on the occasion of receiving the Altrusa International Club of Elgin, Inc. Woman of the Year 2014 Award; and

WHEREAS, Altrusa International Club of Elgin, Inc. is an international service organization comprised of executive and professional women; the Altrusa Club of Elgin sponsors a number of projects in the community through volunteerism and monetary support; its members reside throughout the Northern Fox Valley area, including Elgin, South Elgin, Bartlett, Dundee, Sleepy Hollow, Carpentersville, Algonquin, Bartlett, Hampshire, Huntley, and Pingree Grove; and

WHEREAS, Christine Mueller graduated from Augustana College with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry; she subsequently earned her M.D. at the University of Chicago - Pritzker School of Medicine and her Masters of Health Professions Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago; she is board certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians and speaks English, Spanish, French, and German; and

WHEREAS, Christine Mueller has been affiliated with Elgin Family Physicians since 1991; she is currently a member of the American Medical Women's Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, Doctors Ought to Care, the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians, the Kane County Medical Society, and the Illinois State Medical Society; she is also the Advocate Sherman Hospital/Presence Saint Joseph Hospital CME Consortium Co-Chair; and

WHEREAS, Christine Mueller has been recognized with many honors, including the 2008 People Pillar Award from Sherman Hospital, the 1991 Teaching Excellence Award - PA Program, and the 1991 Resident Teacher of the Year award; and

WHEREAS, Christine Mueller has served in a volunteer capacity as the Medical Director of the Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice, overseeing the case management of patients for the all-volunteer organization since 2010; she has also been involved in a variety of fundraising efforts over the past 20 years as a member of the Zonta Club of Northwest Cook County and as a board member of the Well Child Center from 1994 to 2000; and

WHEREAS, Christine Mueller strongly believes in providing healthcare and wellness education; since 2002, she has hosted the "House Calls" radio program on Elgin's WRMN 1410 AM radio station, following in the footsteps of original host Dr. Dick Powers; twice a month, she offers practical information over the airwaves with a variety of guests covering many topics, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, children's health, alternative medicine, and more; she believes in expanding the horizon of health education to the public with the goal of preventative health in the Fox Valley area; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dr. Christine Mueller on the occasion of receiving the Altrusa International Club of Elgin, Inc. Woman of the Year 2014 Award and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Christine Mueller as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
