| 2 | | WHEREAS, The State of Illinois recognizes the significant |
| 3 | | impact of its spiritual leaders and pays particular honor to |
| 4 | | its native born sons; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, The State of Illinois values the contribution of |
| 6 | | such individuals and extols the virtue of them as a means of |
| 7 | | communicating its honor of such citizens as role models for |
| 8 | | all; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz, of blessed memory, was |
| 10 | | born and raised in Illinois and returned home to direct the |
| 11 | | operation of and oversee the expansion of the activities of |
| 12 | | Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois, the regional headquarters of the |
| 13 | | worldwide Lubavitch movement; he subsequently expanded the |
| 14 | | movement from a single office in Chicago into 40 centers of |
| 15 | | goodness and kindness spanning the State from Carbondale to |
| 16 | | Gurnee; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, The importance of leadership and devotion to home |
| 18 | | and community are primary values we cherish and uphold; these |
| 19 | | values were embodied in Rabbi Moscowitz; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Rabbi Moscowitz was beloved by an entire community |
| 21 | | across the State and across all denominational factions; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz is survived by his wife, |
| 2 | | Esther Rochel; his children, Mrs. Shterna Sara Newman, Rabbi |
| 3 | | Meir Shimon Moscowitz, Rabbi Yosef Shmuel Moscowitz, Rabbi |
| 4 | | Yehoshua Zelik Moscowitz, Mrs. Rivkah Sternberg, Mrs. Chana |
| 5 | | Teldon, Mrs. Chava Kagan, Rabbi Leibel Moscowitz, and Mrs. |
| 6 | | Chaya Mushka Hecht; his parents; and his brothers, Rabbi Moshe |
| 7 | | Moscowitz, Eli Moscowitz, and Rabbi Mendel Moscowitz; |
| 8 | | therefore, be it

| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 10 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 11 | | we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of |
| 12 | | Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz; and be it further
|
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That we designate April 9, 2014 as "Kindness and |
| 14 | | Goodness Day" in the State of Illinois in honor of Rabbi |
| 15 | | Moscowitz and his work; and be it further |
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 17 | | presented to the Lubavitch-Chabad movement as a symbol of our |
| 18 | | respect and esteem.
