| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Harvey R. Gold on | ||||||
| 4 | the occasion of his retirement as the Executive Director of | ||||||
| 5 | Congregation Beth Shalom; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Harvey R. Gold came to Congregation Beth Shalom in | ||||||
| 7 | July of 1972 from the Niles Township Jewish Congregation in | ||||||
| 8 | Skokie and B'nai Zion in Chicago; he began working for | ||||||
| 9 | Congregation Beth Shalom as the Youth Director and as Executive | ||||||
| 10 | Director and in 1975 became the full-time Executive Director; | ||||||
| 11 | and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Harvey R. Gold's accolades include being a guest | ||||||
| 13 | lecturer of the Erma Lee Ettinger Lecture Series at the North | ||||||
| 14 | American Association of Synagogue Executives Convention in New | ||||||
| 15 | Orleans in March of 2003, being honored by the United Synagogue | ||||||
| 16 | of Conservative Judaism Midwest Region in March of 2007 for 40 | ||||||
| 17 | years of service to the conservative movement, and in 2011, he | ||||||
| 18 | was honored for 40 years of service to Congregation Beth | ||||||
| 19 | Shalom; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Harvey R. Gold is a member and past board member | ||||||
| 21 | of the North American Association of Synagogue Executives, a | ||||||
| 22 | member of the Chicago Association of Synagogue Administrators, | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | and a past member of the United Synagogue of Conservative | ||||||
| 2 | Judaism Midwest Region Board and Youth Commission; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Harvey R. Gold has been an invaluable member of | ||||||
| 4 | the Congregation Beth Shalom family and has provided assistance | ||||||
| 5 | to generations of congregants as they celebrated bar mitzvahs, | ||||||
| 6 | weddings, the birth of children, and as they grieved following | ||||||
| 7 | the loss of loved ones; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Harvey R. Gold has been instrumental in all | ||||||
| 9 | aspects of synagogue life at Congregation Beth Shalom, | ||||||
| 10 | including education, services, celebrations, social meetings, | ||||||
| 11 | and charitable projects, and has done so while keeping his | ||||||
| 12 | sense of humor and making everyone that walked through the | ||||||
| 13 | doors feel welcome; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Harvey R. Gold is a lifelong Chicagoland resident; | ||||||
| 15 | he received his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Roosevelt | ||||||
| 16 | University in 1970; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 18 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 19 | we congratulate Harvey R. Gold on his retirement as the | ||||||
| 20 | Executive Director of Congregation Beth Shalom; and be it | ||||||
| 21 | further
