HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate NOW Foods on being 
4chosen as one of the National Best and Brightest Companies to 
5Work For in 2013; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, NOW Foods has received the Chicago area's 101 Best 
7and Brightest Companies to Work For award several times, but 
8this is its first national award; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, NOW Foods remains a family-owned business and many 
10generations have contributed to its success; it was founded by 
11El Richard in 1968 under the belief that good health was not a 
12luxury available only to the wealthy, and for the past 40 years 
13its mission has been to offer health food and nutritional 
14supplements of the highest quality at prices that are fair and 
15affordable to all who seek them; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Today, NOW Foods is one of the top-selling brands 
17in health food stores; it is an award-winning manufacturer, a 
18respected advocate of the natural product industry, and a 
19leader in the fields of nutritional science and methods 
20development; its core values are (1)customer-focused, 
21(2)employee safety and wellness, (3)information driven, 
22(4)quality and value oriented, (5)natural is better, and

1(6)honesty, integrity, and respect; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, NOW Foods has grown considerably  over the past 4 
3decades, but one thing has never changed, its commitment to 
4providing products and services that empower people to lead 
5healthier lives; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, NOW Foods President Jim Emme guides the company as 
7it reflects and amplifies the mission and guiding principles of 
8the award, "Better Business. Richer Lives. Stronger 
9Communities"; therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
11NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
12we congratulate NOW Foods on being chosen as one of the 
13National Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in 2013; and 
14be it further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16presented to NOW Foods as an expression of our esteem and 
17respect.
