| 2 | | WHEREAS, The recent opening of runway 10C/28C at O'Hare |
| 3 | | International Airport has caused a dramatic change in the |
| 4 | | flight patterns and volume over the homes in neighboring |
| 5 | | communities; many citizens have expressed major concerns about |
| 6 | | the environmental risks, noise levels, and safety issues that |
| 7 | | have come with increased flight traffic; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Despite the vital importance that O'Hare plays to |
| 9 | | the local and regional economy, the effects of these new flight |
| 10 | | patterns on the citizens of our State must be addressed in a |
| 11 | | manner that benefits both the residents of the affected area |
| 12 | | and the airport; therefore, be it
|
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 14 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 15 | | we encourage the City of Chicago, the Chicago Department of |
| 16 | | Aviation, and the Federal Aviation Administration to revisit |
| 17 | | the current plans for a voluntary and workable Fly Quiet |
| 18 | | program; and be it further

| 19 | | RESOLVED, That we encourage all relevant entities to |
| 20 | | explore all available options to ensure that the residents of |
| 21 | | the affected areas are adequately protected, while also |
| 22 | | maintaining the economic integrity of O'Hare International |
