HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the members of Laborers' 
4Local 751 on the celebration of the local's 85th anniversary; 
5and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Laborers' Local 751 in Kankakee was chartered by 
7the Hod Carriers, Building, and Common Laborers' Union (later 
8known as the Laborers' International Union of North America) on 
9February 6, 1928; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Laborers' Local 751 has worked to promote the 
11establishment of appropriate wages, fringe benefits, hours of 
12employment, and working conditions for all of its members, 
13while at the same time promoting, fostering, developing, and 
14advancing the skills, efficiencies, and working knowledge 
15necessary for its members; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Laborers' Local 751 has sought to promote 
17industrial peace and develop a harmonious relationship between 
18the union and its employers and to strive for effective 
19programs which improve, advance, and increase the 
20opportunities for employment of its members; and

  
 
21    WHEREAS, Laborers' Local 751 has engaged in legislative and

1other activities to promote, protect, and advance the physical, 
2economic, and social welfare of its members and all people; 
3therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we congratulate the members of Laborers' Local 751 on the 
7celebration of the local's 85th anniversary and wish the local 
8continued success representing working men and women; and be it 
9further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to Laborers' Local 751 as a symbol of our respect and 
12esteem.
