HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate  Brigadier General Brian 
4E. Alvin on the occasion of his promotion in the United States 
5Army Reserve; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Brigadier General Brian Alvin earned his 
7Bachelor's Degree in industrial technology; he is the first 
8ROTC graduate from Northern Illinois University to attain the 
9rank of brigadier general, a distinction achieved by less than 
101% of all United States Army officers; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Brigadier General Brian Alvin was commissioned 
12into the United States Army as a second lieutenant in the 
13Chemical Corps; after his initial assignment with the 2nd 
14Armored Division in Fort Hood, Texas, he served in a variety of 
15command and staff positions in the United States Army Reserve, 
16including commander of the Headquarters and Headquarters 
17Company, 807th Medical Brigade, commander of the 413th Civil 
18Affairs Battalion, and commander of the 645th Regional Support 
19Group; he has served as the commander of the United States 
20Forces Garrison on Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan; he also 
21served 2 tours of duty  in Baghdad, Iraq, and is currently 
22assigned as the assistant chief of staff - J4 (Logistics) of 
23United States Forces Korea; and

1    WHEREAS, Brigadier General Brian Alvin is employed 
2full-time as the global facilities manager for First Solar 
3Corporation in Perrysburg, Ohio; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Brigadier General Brian Alvin was promoted to the 
5rank of brigadier general during a ceremony on September 7, 
62013 at Altgeld Hall in DeKalb; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Brigadier General Brian Alvin serves as a model of 
8hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the 
9State of Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
11NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
12we congratulate Brigadier General Brian E. Alvin on the 
13occasion of his promotion in the United States Army Reserve and 
14wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be 
15it further
  
 
16    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
17presented to Brigadier General Brian Alvin and the Northern 
18Illinois University Department of Military Science as a symbol 
19of our esteem and respect.
