HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Evelyn Brandt Thomas on 
4the occasion of her 90th birthday on August 25, 2013; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Evelyn Brandt Thomas and her brother, Glen Brandt, 
6set in motion the framework of Brandt Consolidated, Inc. in 
7Pleasant Plains, a company now consisting of more than 300 
8employees, with operations spread across the United States and 
945 countries around the world; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Evelyn Brandt Thomas threw the first pitch at the 
11St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs game on August 11, 2013; 
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Evelyn Brandt Thomas is recognized and honored for 
14her leadership in the funding and construction of the Simmons 
15Cancer Institute at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Evelyn Brandt Thomas was the recipient of the 2012 
17Small Business Person of the Year Lifetime Award from the 
18Springfield Chamber of Commerce; she was named the Outstanding 
19Woman in Agribusiness by Illinois Agri-Women and was recognized 
20as a leader in the Illinois Women in Business Association; and

1    WHEREAS, Evelyn Brandt Thomas has also been recognized for 
2her altruistic and philanthropic activities and her many 
3scholarship awards to numerous worthy and grateful recipients; 
4therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
7we congratulate Evelyn Brandt Thomas on the occasion of her 
890th birthday and wish her many happy and healthy years to 
9come; and be it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to Evelyn Brandt Thomas as a symbol of our esteem and 
12respect.
