| 5 | | WHEREAS, The Blackhawks defeated the Boston Bruins in 6 |
| 6 | | games to win one of the most exciting
finals series in the |
| 7 | | history of the NHL; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, The Blackhawks' victory clinched the team's |
| 9 | | second title since 2010 and the team's fifth title
overall; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, The Blackhawks set a new NHL record by earning a |
| 11 | | point in 24 consecutive games to start the season; the
|
| 12 | | Blackhawks concluded the regular season with a record of |
| 13 | | 36-7-5, and won the Presidents' Trophy for
earning the most |
| 14 | | points in the NHL; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, The Blackhawks defeated the Minnesota Wild in the |
| 16 | | first round of the playoffs; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, The Blackhawks defeated the Detroit Redwings in a |
| 18 | | thrilling 7 game series in the second round of the playoffs; |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, The Blackhawks defeated the Los Angeles Kings in 5 |
| 2 | | games in the Western Conference Finals to advance to the |

| 4 | | WHEREAS, The Blackhawks scored 2 goals in 17 seconds in |
| 5 | | game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals to defeat the Boston Bruins |
| 6 | | and win the
Stanley Cup; and

| 7 | | WHEREAS, Rocky Wirtz, John McDonough, Stan Bowman, and Joel |
| 8 | | Quenneville have put together and
led a great organization; and

| 9 | | WHEREAS, Patrick Kane was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy |
| 10 | | for being named the Most Valuable Player of the playoffs by |
| 11 | | scoring 9 goals and having 10 assists throughout the playoffs; |
| 12 | | and

| 13 | | WHEREAS, Winning the Stanley Cup takes dedication from all |
| 14 | | members of the organization and players
on the active roster; |
| 15 | | therefore, be it

| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 17 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 18 | | we commend and applaud the 2013 Chicago Blackhawks for their |
| 19 | | accomplishments
during the 2013 season, for their talent and |
| 20 | | teamwork displayed on the ice, for their excellence and

| 21 | | humility off the ice, for the outstanding coaching staff |
