HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Monsignor Doug 
4Hennessy on his retirement from Holy Trinity Catholic Church in 
5Bloomington; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Monsignor Hennessy has been the pastor of Holy 
7Trinity Catholic Church since 2004; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Monsignor Hennessy was born in Bloomington on 
9February 21, 1938; he was ordained on July 14, 1963; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Monsignor Hennessy began his career in 1964 as an 
11assistant at St. Paul's in Macomb; he furthered his studies at 
12Fordham University in 1967; in 1968, he worked as diocesan 
13director, religious education, and diocesan director of 
14vocations; he became part-time assistant at St. Patrick's in 
15Peoria in 1970, he was in-residence at St. Martin's in Peoria 
16in 1976, and co-pastor of St. Patrick's in Urbana in 1977; in 
171986, he joined the staff of North American College in Rome, 
18Italy; he returned to Illinois in 1991 and became pastor of St. 
19Paul's in Danville; in 2003, he became chaplain to His 
20Holiness; and

  
 
21    WHEREAS, A celebration of Monsignor Hennessy's retirement

1will be held on July 14, 2013, to coincide with the 50th 
2anniversary of his ordination; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
5we congratulate Monsignor Doug Hennessy on his retirement from 
6Holy Trinity Catholic Church; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to Monsignor Hennessy as an expression of our esteem 
9and respect.
