HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to recognize District 200 Bower Elementary School nurse Patricia O'Connor on receiving the Ron W. Lee MD-Excellence in Pediatric Care Award; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Illinois Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) program honored Patricia O'Connor with a special pediatric care award for her contributions to childhood care; the Ron W. Lee, MD-Excellence in Pediatric Care Awards are given annually to recognize those dedicated to pediatric emergency care and childhood injury prevention initiatives; and

WHEREAS, Patricia O'Connor coordinates with families, physicians, and local emergency medical services the daily care of students; she has developed emergency care plans for students with special needs, allergies, seizure disorders, asthma, and many other chronic conditions and serves on the district's safety committee; and

WHEREAS, Patricia O'Connor has served on the Illinois Terrorism Task Force Pediatric Preparedness Workgroup, the Statewide Pediatric Disaster Surge Plan Committee, as a member of the Illinois Brain Injury Association, and as a representative to the planning committee for the School Nurse Emergency Care Course; and

WHEREAS, Patricia O'Connor was nominated by Kris Fontanarosa, Sue Thiesen, Sheila Grogan, and Dr. Robert Rammer from District 200 and Marian Meyers from the Illinois Association of School Nurses; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Patricia O'Connor on receiving the Ron W. Lee MD-Excellence in Pediatric Care Award; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Patricia O'Connor as an expression of our esteem and respect.
