| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jean |
| 4 | | Louise (nee Carpenter) Mooring of Glen Ellyn, who passed away |
| 5 | | on February 4, 2013; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Jean Mooring was born on April 2, 1926, in |
| 7 | | Madison, Wisconsin; she received a bachelors degree from |
| 8 | | Wellesley College in 1947 and for a time afterwards, attended |
| 9 | | the University of Wisconsin; she married Paul Mooring in 1948 |
| 10 | | and they moved to the Chicago area in 1951; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Jean Mooring was a lifelong environmentalist; she |
| 12 | | dedicated numerous hours to the building and maintenance of the |
| 13 | | Illinois Prairie Path, a 61-mile pedestrian and bike trail, and |
| 14 | | worked on it for 48 of its 50 year history; she was the editor |
| 15 | | of the Illinois Prairie Path newsletter for 16 years and served |
| 16 | | on the group's board of directors for 32 years; in 1988, |
| 17 | | Prairie Path volunteers received a national Take Pride in |
| 18 | | America Award, accepted by Jean & Paul Mooring at a White House |
| 19 | | ceremony; she did much to make Glen Ellyn and the DuPage County |
| 20 | | area a far better place to live and enjoy life; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Jean Mooring was a longtime member of the |
| 22 | | Conservation Foundation, a non-profit group that protects open |
