| 2 | | WHEREAS, State-authorized paid administrative leave is |
| 3 | | meant to be used for serious allegations of workplace |
| 4 | | wrongdoing and should last only a few weeks, not several |
| 5 | | months; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, According to news reports, as of February 2013, 10 |
| 7 | | State employees have been on paid administrative leave for more |
| 8 | | than one year; 64 employees have been on paid leave for more |
| 9 | | than 60 days; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, The current number of workers on State-authorized |
| 11 | | paid administrative leave is 81; those workers have collected |
| 12 | | about $2 million in taxpayer-funded State wages; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Since 2007, more than 2,000 employees have been on |
| 14 | | State-authorized paid administrative leave, while collecting |
| 15 | | $23 million in taxpayer-funded State wages; therefore, be it
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 17 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 18 | | we urge the proper appropriations committees of the House of |
| 19 | | Representatives to review the matter of paying workers on |
| 20 | | State-authorized paid administrative leave, determine any |
| 21 | | wrongdoing or discrepancies at State agencies in placing |
