| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to recognize Barbara L. Krueger, MD | ||||||
| 4 | as she is honored by The Gala Committee of Advocate Christ | ||||||
| 5 | Medical Center and Advocate Children's Hospital as the | ||||||
| 6 | Outstanding Physician Leader Honoree; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Barbara Krueger was born in Syracuse, New York, on | ||||||
| 8 | August 31, 1954; she lived in 9 states throughout her formative | ||||||
| 9 | years and graduated from Peachtree High School in Atlanta, | ||||||
| 10 | Georgia; she attended the University of Georgia and Georgia | ||||||
| 11 | State University, graduating with a bachelors of science in | ||||||
| 12 | Allied Health Sciences/Respiratory Therapy; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Following graduation, she worked at Piedmont | ||||||
| 14 | Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, as a staff respiratory therapist, | ||||||
| 15 | supervisor; in 1980, she became Director of Respiratory | ||||||
| 16 | Therapy; in 1984, she entered Emory University School of | ||||||
| 17 | Medicine, graduating in 1988; she began her surgical residency | ||||||
| 18 | at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Lukes Medical Center in Chicago; | ||||||
| 19 | after completing her residency in 1993, she joined the | ||||||
| 20 | partnership of Hopkins, Mesleh, and Hopkins at Christ Medical | ||||||
| 21 | Center; and
| ||||||
| 22 | WHEREAS, In 1996, Barbara Krueger's medical practice | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | became exclusively focused on breast cancer evaluation and | ||||||
| 2 | treatment; she began a weekly Interdisciplinary Breast | ||||||
| 3 | Conference in 1998 and went on to develop "Breast Center | ||||||
| 4 | Without Walls" to improve the quality, access, and efficiency | ||||||
| 5 | of care for breast cancer patients; in 2010, she began a weekly | ||||||
| 6 | Multidisciplinary Breast Oncology Clinic on Fridays to | ||||||
| 7 | evaluate newly diagnosed breast cancer cases and to form a plan | ||||||
| 8 | for treatment best suited to each individual; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Barbara Krueger was appointed Medical Director of | ||||||
| 10 | the Breast Cancer Program at Advocate Christ Medical Center in | ||||||
| 11 | 2011, a position she holds to this day; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Barbara Krueger will be honored at Salute 2013: Oh | ||||||
| 13 | What Night! on April 27, 2013, at The Field Museum in Chicago; | ||||||
| 14 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 16 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 17 | we recognize Barbara Krueger as she is honored by The Gala | ||||||
| 18 | Committee of Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate | ||||||
| 19 | Children's Hospital as the Outstanding Physician Leader | ||||||
| 20 | Honoree; and be it further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 22 | presented to Barbara Krueger as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
