HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate  the employees, 
4administration, and board of Eisenhower Library for their 40 
5years of dedicated service to the residents of Norridge and 
6Harwood Heights; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, The history of Eisenhower Library began in 1968, 
8when the "Friends of the Library for Norridge-Harwood Heights" 
9was formed to begin the process of starting a community 
10library; after a "Name the Library" contest was held at local 
11schools, the library was named after President Dwight D. 
12Eisenhower; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Eisenhower Library was first opened in Parkway 
14Towers in 1972; the following year, the Dwight D. Eisenhower 
15Library District was established; in 1974, the library was 
16relocated to leased quarters, which was later purchased and 
17expanded; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, In 2008, a brand new LEED Silver-certified 
19building was completed, and Eisenhower Library was moved into 
20this state-of-the art facility; and

  
 
21    WHEREAS, The employees, administration, and board of

1Eisenhower Library serve as models of hard work, integrity, and 
2dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, 
3be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we congratulate the employees, administration, and board of 
7Eisenhower Library for their 40 years of dedicated service to 
8the residents of Norridge and Harwood Heights and wish them 
9continued success and happiness in the future; and be it 
10further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to Eisenhower Library as a symbol of our esteem and 
13respect.
