HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Garvin G. Ambrose on the occasion of his appointment by Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy to the position of State Victim Advocate; and

WHEREAS, Garvin Ambrose was unanimously selected by the Victim Advocate Advisory Committee and recommended to the Governor of Connecticut to serve as the state's Victim Advocate, charged with the responsibility of advising the Connecticut General Assembly on system-wide improvements to state services for victims of crime; Mr. Ambrose will continue to advocate for victims in court and work with private and public agencies to enforce the constitutional rights of victims; and

WHEREAS, Garvin Ambrose has recently served as the Executive Assistant State's Attorney and Legislative Liaison for the Cook County State's Attorney's Office; he has assisted in the development of state-wide legislative and policy initiatives that encompassed issues on civil, criminal, and family law; and

WHEREAS, Garvin Ambrose began his post-doctoral career as an Assistant State's Attorney in Cook County in the Public Interest Bureau, Child Support Enforcement Division, where he advocated on behalf of the Department of Healthcare and Family Services by establishing and enforcing paternity; he was later promoted into the Juvenile Justice Bureau, where he served in the Child Protection Division and the Juvenile Delinquency Division; and

WHEREAS, Garvin Ambrose's passion for helping and influencing the lives of others extends into his work as an assistant track and field coach at the University of Illinois at Chicago; as a USATF Level 1 Certified Coach, he has led his high jump athletes to many victories in state and national competitions; he also mentors his athletes of the track, taking them to cultural events, conversing with their professors about grades, and helping them to steer through administrative difficulties on campus; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Garvin G. Ambrose's years of advocacy and service to the citizens of Cook County and wish him well in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Garvin Ambrose as an expression of our esteem and respect.
