Changes and limits the aggravating factors for which a person convicted of first degree murder may be sentenced to death. Provides for aggravating factors in which a person may be sentenced to natural life imprisonment. Provides that some aggravating factors for which the defendant may have been sentenced to death before the effective date of the amendatory Act may only be considered in determining whether the defendant may be sentenced to natural life imprisonment. Repeals provision that abolishes the death penalty.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
