<reference>70 ILCS 705/4c new</reference><aliasreference></aliasreference><SynopsisText>     Amends the Fire Protection District Act. Provides that rural fire protection districts shall be governed by an elected, rather than an appointed, board of trustees consisting of 5 members with 4-year terms. Provides guidelines for 7-member elected boards to transition to 5-member elected boards. Provides for the continuation of terms of trustees appointed or elected prior to the effective date of the amendatory Act, as well as for filling vacancies. Further provides for the election and terms of trustees elected after the effective date of the amendatory Act. Provides nomination requirements for trustees. Effective immediately.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>House Floor Amendment No. 1</synopsistitle>
<SynopsisText>Provides that the requirements for election of and terms for trustees for rural fire protection districts only apply to fire protection districts with a population of 30,000 or more, based on the most recent federal decennial census.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>House Floor Amendment No. 2</synopsistitle>
<SynopsisText>Provides that the requirements for election of and terms for trustees for rural fire protection districts only apply to counties that: (i) have a population between 500,000 and 1,000,000 (rather than 30,000 or more), based on the most recent federal decennial census; and (ii) border a county with a population of 1,000,000 or more, based on the most recent federal decennial census.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
