SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John A. "Jack" Ryan, who passed away on November 29, 2012; and

WHEREAS, John Ryan was born on October 24, 1934, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; his parents were John F. and Bernice (Halpin) Ryan; and

WHEREAS, John Ryan was the owner and operator of Ryan Automotive in Geneva for many years; he also served as an on-call firefighter and paramedic in Geneva and served his community as an alderman; and

WHEREAS, John Ryan was an active member in numerous local organizations; he served as president of the Geneva Chamber of Commerce; he was a member of the Delnor Foundation Board and a past president of the St. Peter School Board; he was a longtime member of the Geneva Lions Club and St. John Neumann Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and Eucharistic minister; he was also a strong supporter of Geneva High School sports as a longtime Sports Booster member; and

WHEREAS, John Ryan enjoyed running, golfing, and hockey; and

WHEREAS, John Ryan was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann; his parents; his daughter, Joanne; his sons, Jimmy and Jerry; his brother, Jim Ryan; and his sister, Mary Ellen Chiappetti; and

WHEREAS, John Ryan is survived by his wife, Martha (Mutti) Ryan; his sons, John, Jeff (Cheryl), and Joe (Sue) Ryan; his daughters, Joan (Doug) Froehlich and Julie Ryan; his grandchildren, Michael, Nolan, Jessica, and Nichole Ryan and McKayla Froehlich; his great grandchildren, Brooke and Ashlyn; and his step-daughter, Elizabeth Keith, and her daughter, Marissa Pulecio; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of John A. "Jack" Ryan; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the family of John Ryan as an expression of our sympathy.
