SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Brian Thompson McElwain of Downers Grove, 
4who passed away on September 26, 2012; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Brian McElwain was born to John Allen McElwain IV 
6and Mary Mitchell; he graduated from Hinsdale Central High 
7School and the University of Colorado, with a degree in 
8environmental design; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Brian McElwain owned Environmental Design 
10Associates, Inc.; he was active in the Y's Men at the Downers 
11Grove YMCA, Hinsdale Historical Society, Folk Art Society of 
12America, Westmont Chamber of Commerce, and the Porsche Club; 
13and
  
 
  
14    WHEREAS, Brian McElwain was preceded in death by his 
15father, John Allen McElwain IV; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Brian McElwain is survived by his wife Cathy (nee 
17Ballard); his step-children, Adelaide and Carolyn; his mother, 
18Mary Mitchell; his step-father, Harold Mitchell; his siblings, 
19John Farley McElwain, Bobby McElwain, Marc (Renee) Mitchell, 
20and Allison (Brendon) Schallert; his nieces and nephews, Jon 
21and Katie Mitchell, Megan and Scott McElwain, and Maeve and

1Siobhan Schallert; and his dogs, James Brown and Barry White; 
2therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL 
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
5Brian McElwain, and we extend our sincere condolences to his 
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
7further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to the family of Brian McElwain as an expression of 
10our deepest sympathy.
