SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James Carlin of Algonquin, who passed away on August 18, 2012; and

WHEREAS, James Carlin was born on March 13, 1943; his parents were Edward and Catherine (Murphy) Carlin; he married Carol Barakso on February 19, 1965; and

WHEREAS, James Carlin was a graduate of Marist High School and St. Peter's College in Jersey City; and

WHEREAS, James Carlin served his country with pride as a member of the United States Marines; and

WHEREAS, James Carlin traveled and worked in Latin America, Europe, and much of the United States during his life; after beginning his career in manufacturing systems, he ascended the ranks of senior IT management and eventually to executive positions, including director of IT at Baxter Health Care, chief information officer of Baxter Renal Division and, most recently, CIO of Gerber; and

WHEREAS, James Carlin was active and interested in politics at all levels; he often volunteered for local political activities and enjoyed writing about the issues he felt were most important to the nation; he also enjoyed the company of many cherished animals; and

WHEREAS, James Carlin was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, James Carlin is survived by his wife, Carol Carlin; his children, Jay (fiancee, Kelly) Carlin, Mike (Christine) Carlin, and Suzanne (best friend, Jim) Carlin; his grandchildren, Kaitlin, Jessica, Ryan, and Natalie; and his closest cousins, Diane (Jeff) Carlin-Bartel and Peggy (Bob) Parsons; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of James Carlin; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James Carlin as an expression of our sympathy.
