| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Anne Zegar of Zion, formerly of North |
| 4 | | Chicago, who passed away on May 9, 2012; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, She was born in North Chicago on January 14, 1921 |
| 6 | | and raised in the Slovenian neighborhood of North Chicago, |
| 7 | | where she became an excellent cook, specializing in Slovenian |
| 8 | | and Polish dishes, particularly Slovenian potica; she also made |
| 9 | | an incomparable bridge mix; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, She was a member of the Prince of Peace Church and |
| 11 | | the K.S.K.J. Society; for many years, she was a member of a |
| 12 | | Waukegan neighborhood group which met once a month to play |
| 13 | | cards and socialize; the group included Jeanette Swanson, Alice |
| 14 | | Hanson, Bea Wooldridge, and Betty Hyde; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; |
| 16 | | her infant daughter, Carole Ann; her parents; her sister, |
| 17 | | Lillian; and numerous half-brothers, nieces, and nephews; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Anne Zegar is survived by her children, James, |
| 19 | | John (Zuleika), Mary Kay, and Jerry (Jean); her niece, Leona |
| 20 | | Russell; and her grandchildren, Laura and Katie Zegar, John and |
| 21 | | Mike Zegar, Ryan Courtney, Scott Courtney, Christopher and |
