| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of
Jane Hanna Ising of Homewood, who passed |
| 4 | | away February 2, 2012; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jane Ising was born on February 2, 1902, in |
| 6 | | Berlin, Germany; her parents were Hans and Clara (Moldehaur) |
| 7 | | Ehmer; she married Ernst Ising on December 23, 1930, in Berlin; |
| 8 | | and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Jane Ising earned her Ph.D. in economics from the |
| 10 | | University of Berlin and researched for 2 professors there for |
| 11 | | 10 years; after they were forced out of Germany by the Nazis, |
| 12 | | she and her husband ended up in Luxembourg during World War II; |
| 13 | | after the war, they came to America and soon settled in Peoria, |
| 14 | | where she was involved in numerous community works, including |
| 15 | | the opening of the local Planned Parenthood; she also taught |
| 16 | | economics at Bradley University and led the great books classes |
| 17 | | for many years; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Jane Ising was preceded in death by her husband |
| 19 | | and her parents; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Jane Ising is survived by her son, Thomas Ising |
| 21 | | (Carol); her grandchildren, Chuck and Ralph (Wendy); and her |
