| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of William "Bill" Jereb of Grayslake, who |
| 4 | | passed away on December 18, 2011; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was born April 15, 1925 in North Chicago to |
| 6 | | Mary and John Jereb; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, He was a World War II veteran, serving with the |
| 8 | | Fourth Infantry Division Company C 8th Regiment in Europe; his |
| 9 | | company was part of the D-Day invasion, landing in Normandy on |
| 10 | | Utah Beach with the first wave; he was awarded the Combat |
| 11 | | Infantry Badge, 2 Bronze Stars, 3 Purple Hearts, the Bronze |
| 12 | | Arrowhead, 3 Campaign Stars, the Presidential Unit Citation, |
| 13 | | the Belgium Forragiere, and the French Medallion with |
| 14 | | citations, plus others; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, He retired from US Steel after 33 years of |
| 16 | | service; he was a member of St. Mary of the Annunciation |
| 17 | | Catholic Church, St. Joseph's KSKJ #53, Knights of Columbus |
| 18 | | #731, Sharvin Post American Legion, the Disabled American |
| 19 | | Veterans, and the 4th Infantry Division Association; he was a |
| 20 | | former member of Queen of Peace Church and Mother of God |
| 21 | | Church; and
