| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Robert H. "Bob" Locke of Aurora, who |
| 4 | | passed away on December 4, 2011; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was born December 31, 1930 in Appleton, |
| 6 | | Wisconsin, the son of the late Floyd and Mable (Wickesberg) |
| 7 | | Locke; he grew up and went to Appleton Senior High School and |
| 8 | | was a graduate of Gale Institute and Midwestern Broadcasting |
| 9 | | School in Chicago; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, In 1952, he joined the United States Army and was |
| 11 | | in the Signal Corps during the Korean War; he started |
| 12 | | broadcasting news and sports in Escanaba, Michigan; he then |
| 13 | | moved back to Aurora and worked for WMRO and WKKD broadcasting |
| 14 | | high school sports; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, He was inducted into the Illinois Hall of Fame, |
| 16 | | News Media in 1995; he was also inducted into the East Aurora |
| 17 | | Sports Hall of Fame; he held a passion for broadcasting high |
| 18 | | school sports and fast pitch softball; he was an avid fan of |
| 19 | | the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, and had a genuine |
| 20 | | love for all sports; he was elected Commissioner of Public |
| 21 | | Health and Safety for the city of Aurora and served from 1973 |
| 22 | | to 1977; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, He worked for many years at Home Savings and Loan |
| 2 | | in downtown Aurora until his retirement; he also served as |
| 3 | | president and trustee for 20 years at Fox Metro Water |
| 4 | | Reclamation District; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Robert Locke is survived by his loving wife of 57 |
| 6 | | years, Elsie Kissel; his children, Joseph (Hallie) Locke, James |
| 7 | | (Jill) Locke, Lori Werner, and Lisa (Scott) Felker; his |
| 8 | | grandchildren, Steven Locke, Adam (Jessica) Locke, Jimmy |
| 9 | | Locke, Ben Locke, Robbie Locke, Kyle Werner, Hannah Werner, |
| 10 | | Troy and Peter Medlin, and Caleb and Jacob Felker; as well as |
| 11 | | many wonderful nieces and nephews; he was preceded in death by |
| 12 | | his daughter, Judith Ann Locke; therefore, be it
|
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL |
| 14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 15 | | his family and friends, the passing of Robert Locke; and be it |
| 16 | | further
|
| 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 18 | | presented to the family of Robert Locke as a symbol of our |
| 19 | | sincere sympathy.
