| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of
Arthur "Art" Schultz of Joliet, who |
| 4 | | passed away on November 26, 2011; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Arthur Schultz attended Joliet Catholic High |
| 6 | | School; he married Frances Jacksa on November 6, 1954, at the |
| 7 | | Cathedral of St. Raymond's in Joliet; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Arthur Schultz proudly served his country as a |
| 9 | | member of the United States Navy during the Korean War, from |
| 10 | | 1950 to 1954; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Arthur Schultz was a lifetime Joliet resident and |
| 12 | | served the citizens of the City of Joliet for almost 50 years; |
| 13 | | he served as Joliet's Mayor for 20 years, from 1991 through May |
| 14 | | of 2011; he also served in the Joliet Police Department for 29 |
| 15 | | years, rising to the rank of lieutenant; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Arthur Schultz was a past President of the Joliet |
| 17 | | Police Officers Association; he was a member of Fraternal Order |
| 18 | | of Police Lodge #58, the Police Athletic League (PAL), the |
| 19 | | Joliet Police Benevolent Association, and the Joliet Police and |
| 20 | | Fire Board; he served as a Will County Sheriff's Deputy; he was |
| 21 | | a member and past commander of the American Legion Post #1080 |

| 1 | | and a member of V.F.W. Cantigny Post #367, Moran AC, and Joliet |
| 2 | | Moose Lodge #300; he was a member of the Irving Athletic Club |
| 3 | | and an Honorary Life Member of the Old Timers Baseball |
| 4 | | Association of Will County; he was also a member of the Retired |
| 5 | | and Disabled Police of America, the Croatian Cultural Club of |
| 6 | | Joliet, the Joliet Arsenal Development Authority, and the |
| 7 | | Cathedral of St. Raymond's Parish; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Arthur Schultz was the recipient of the Joliet |
| 9 | | Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award for his almost |
| 10 | | 50 years of service and love for the City of Joliet; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Arthur Schultz was preceded in death by his |
| 12 | | parents, Art and Margaret (nee Byrne) Schultz, and his |
| 13 | | grandchildren, Jennifer and Sarah Voots and Arthur Schultz Jr.; |
| 14 | | and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Arthur Schultz is survived by his loving wife, |
| 16 | | Fran; his children, Debbie (Richard) Fonck, Nancy (Steve) |
| 17 | | Voots, Artie (Nancy) Schultz, Danny (Sue) Schultz, and Mike |
| 18 | | Schultz; his grandchildren, Rick and Rachel (Mike Johnston) |
| 19 | | Fonck, Max Voots, Brett and Maggie Schultz, and Samantha and |
| 20 | | Mark Schultz; and his sister, Clara Schultz; therefore, be it
