| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of
James L. Althoff Sr. of McHenry, who |
| 4 | | passed away on November 8, 2011; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, James Althoff Sr. was born on June 9, 1928, in |
| 6 | | McHenry; he graduated from McHenry Community High School in |
| 7 | | 1946; he married Joan Andreen on June 18, 1949, at St. Mary's |
| 8 | | Catholic Church in McHenry; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, James Althoff Sr. founded Althoff Industries |
| 10 | | (then Althoff Heating and Air) in 1962; the company, which only |
| 11 | | had 2 employees at its founding, grew into a business with |
| 12 | | about 150 employees today; under his guidance, the company |
| 13 | | became one of the largest mechanical contractors in the State; |
| 14 | | and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, James Althoff Sr. was a tireless community |
| 16 | | volunteer who served on the boards of many organizations; he |
| 17 | | was a member of the McHenry High School District 156 school |
| 18 | | board from 1967 to 1979 and the Illinois Board of Governors of |
| 19 | | Higher Education from 1980 to 1991; he was a volunteer fireman |
| 20 | | and then later served as the president of the McHenry Fire |
| 21 | | Protection District for more than 20 years; he was also a |
| 22 | | trustee of the Local 130 Plumbers Union, a board member of Home |
