| 2 | | WHEREAS, On December 17, 1968, Illinois State Police |
| 3 | | officer Floyd J. Farrar was assisting a motorist with a flat |
| 4 | | tire on Illinois Route 103 when he was struck by a second |
| 5 | | vehicle traveling in the opposite direction; the impact killed |
| 6 | | Trooper Farrar instantly; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Trooper Farrar served his country with pride and |
| 8 | | distinction in the United States military during World War II; |
| 9 | | he began his career with the Illinois State Police on October |
| 10 | | 4, 1945 and served with integrity for 23 years before his |
| 11 | | untimely death; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, It is fitting to honor Trooper Farrar with a |
| 13 | | suitable memorial to his sacrifice in the line of duty; |
| 14 | | therefore, be it
|
| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL |
| 16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we designate Illinois |
| 17 | | Route 103 in Schuyler County as the Trooper Floyd J. Farrar |
| 18 | | Memorial Highway; and be it further
|
| 19 | | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation |
| 20 | | is requested to erect, consistent with State and federal |
| 21 | | regulations, signs displaying the name of the Trooper Floyd J. |
