SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charinez Edna Jefferson of Chicago, who passed away on August 16, 2011; and

WHEREAS, She was born on October 20, 1993 in Chicago; she attended John M. Smyth and Marquette Elementary School; she was in her junior year at Banner High School; and

WHEREAS, She confessed her hope in Christ on November 14, 2010, under the leadership of Pastor John F. Hannah; she was a warm, outgoing woman who loved to shop, do different things with her hair, cook, and lend a helping hand; and

WHEREAS, She became a mother at the age of 16 and accepted all the responsibilities associated with the role; she loved to come home after school and spend time with her baby; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Edna Clark; her grandmothers, Inez Williams and Audrey Williams; her grandfather, Luke Jefferson; her sister, Jamyra Nash; and her aunt, Delores Brown; and

WHEREAS, Charinez Edna Jefferson is survived by her sons, Kamaerra Delucus and Kahmani Jabez Mims-Jefferson; her mother, Debbie Jefferson; her sister, Candiss; her brothers, Pierre, Virgil, and Deondre; her grandfather, Tyrone Wallace; her nephews, Virgil and Vershaun; her niece, Andrea; her great-aunt, Mable Jeffries; her companion and father of her children, Jahkarri Mims; her step-sister, Courtney Nash; her special cousin, Terrisha Williams; her best friends, Woosie, Jaquan, Kadijah, Ariel, and Tickie; her aunts, uncles, and a host of cousins and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Charinez Jefferson; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charinez Jefferson as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
