SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Officer Thor Odin Soderberg, who passed 
4away July 7, 2010; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Officer Soderberg was appointed to the Chicago 
6Police Department and served faithfully for over a decade; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Officer Soderberg served the Chicago Police 
8Department as an instructor in the Education and Training 
9Division; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Officer Soderberg also served the Chicago Police 
11Department as part of a crime-fighting initiative called 
12Operation Project Youth; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS,The Chicago Police Department has retired Officer 
14Soderberg's star, which is numbered 14767; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Officer Soderberg was a proud member of the 
16Chicago Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #7; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Officer Soderberg leaves behind his wife, four 
18siblings and his parents; and

1    WHEREAS, Officer Soderberg dedicated and gave his life to 
2protecting and serving the people of Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL 
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
5his family, friends, and Fraternal Order of Police brothers and 
6sisters, the passing of Officer Thor Soderberg; and be it 
7further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to the family of Officer Soderberg as an expression 
10of our sympathy.
