| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Robert Gillis of Bloomington, who passed |
| 4 | | away on March 22, 2011; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was born September 8, 1927, in Bloomington, the |
| 6 | | son of Ruel and Hulda Hanell Gillis; he married Josephine M. |
| 7 | | Pickett on February 18, 1950, in Decatur; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, He was an active member of the West Twin Grove |
| 9 | | Christian Church in Bloomington; he worked at Ralston Purina |
| 10 | | Company for 37 years and farmed in rural Bloomington and raised |
| 11 | | livestock and sheep; he was well known locally and nationally |
| 12 | | throughout the sheep industry where he had made many friends; |
| 13 | | and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, He served in the United States Army; he was a |
| 15 | | supporter of 4-H and was a former superintendent and judge at |
| 16 | | the fair; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; |
| 18 | | his brother, Jack; and his son-in-law, Jerry Bryant; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Robert Gillis is survived by his children, Marcia |
| 20 | | (Doug) Olson, Bill (Phyllis) Gillis, Connie Bryant, and Barb |
