SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert H. Schoeneweis of Wood River, who passed away on March 7, 2011; and

WHEREAS, He was born March 1, 1912, in Bethalto, the son of William and Ruth (Silland) Schoeneweis; he married the former Ethel Lamm on November 4, 1933, in Hartford and they shared 64 years of marriage; and

WHEREAS, They were lifetime members of the First United Methodist Church of Wood River; they were avid fishermen and enjoyed many years together fishing in Canada, Mexico, and Alaska and at their winter home in Okeechobee, Florida; and

WHEREAS, He was a machinist and founded Wood River General Machine Works and Schoeneweis Tool & Die Co. Inc.; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bud, Warren, Clyde, and Kenneth (infant) Schoeneweis; his sisters, Virginia Voyles and Lorraine Yeager; his grandson, Brett Schoeneweis; his son-in-law, Wally Whipple; and his special friend, Shirley Faircloth; and

WHEREAS, Robert Schoeneweis is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Carol Schoeneweis and Bruce and Karen Schoeneweis; his daughter, Susan and Doug Broadway; his grandchildren, Wade and Lori Schoeneweis and their sons, Jack and Owen; Nichol and Jeremy Sokolowski; Grant and Amanda Schoeneweis; and Jason and Beth Whipple and their daughter, Wren; his extended family members, including: Julie and Dana Morrow and their children, Kaitlin and Jared; Susan Rutledge and her son, Austin; Eric and Laurie Whipple and their daughter, Emily; and Maggie Broadway; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Robert Schoeneweis; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Schoeneweis as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
