SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard A. Cannon, who passed away on February 3, 2011 in Brighton; and

WHEREAS, He was born on February 16, 1931, in Coffeen, the son of Roy and Grace K. (Donaldson) Cannon; he married Neil K. Wilhelm on July 14, 1956, at the First Baptist Church in Upper Alton; and

WHEREAS, He was a United States Navy veteran and served in the Korean Conflict; he was stationed on the USS Salsbury Sound as a machinist mate; and

WHEREAS, He worked for Owens-Illinois Glass as a machinist for 41 years and retired in 1992; he was a member of the Golden Emblem Club with Owens-Illinois Glass; he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; and two sisters; and

WHEREAS, Richard Cannon is survived by his wife, Neil Cannon; his two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Brenda Cannon and David and Stephanie Cannon; his daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Henry Hoehn; his grandchildren and their spouses, Jake and Ginny Cannon, Matt and Emily Cannon, Danielle and Larry Linville, Lisa Malson, Denise and Todd Vaughan, and Eric Hoehn; his 11 great-grandchildren, Gennasee, Deklan and Wyatt Cannon, Victoria Skelton, Jordan and Donny Linville, Tristan Malson, Quinten and Abigail Vaughan, and Samantha and Maxwell Hoehn; and his siblings, Doris Anderson, Grace Giddings, Bill Cannon, James Cannon, and Laurel Cannon; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Richard Cannon; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Richard Cannon as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
