| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Barbara Wesby of Aurora; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Wesby graduated from Grambling State |
| 5 | | University in Grambling, Louisiana; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, After arriving in Aurora in 1968, Barbara Wesby |
| 7 | | became well known for her great dedication of volunteer work in |
| 8 | | the Aurora community; she was involved with numerous volunteer |
| 9 | | organizations, including the YWCA Board of Directors, the YW's |
| 10 | | Advocacy-Action Committee, Illinois LIHEAP, the Hesed House |
| 11 | | Executive Board, the 6th Ward Aurora Community Development |
| 12 | | Block Grant group, the Fox Knoll Retirement Center Board of |
| 13 | | Directors and Human Resource Board, the Black Heritage Board, |
| 14 | | and the Soulfest board; she was also involved in the YWCA's |
| 15 | | Week Without Violence day of remembrance following the death of |
| 16 | | her son in a shooting; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Wesby was an ordained minister at Gayles |
| 18 | | Memorial Baptist, where she served as a clerk for 30 years and |
| 19 | | hosted a show on Aurora's Cable Access Television; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Wesby was the recipient of numerous awards |
| 21 | | for her service in her community, including a community service |
