| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Farries "Mickey" Henry Morrison, Jr. of |
| 4 | | Springfield, who passed away on January 5, 2011; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was born on March 24, 1941, in Springfield, the |
| 6 | | eldest child of Reverend Farries H. Sr. and Mother Margaret |
| 7 | | Iola Morrison; he graduated from Springfield Feitshans High |
| 8 | | School in 1959; he earned a basketball scholarship to Western |
| 9 | | Illinois University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in |
| 10 | | English and Journalism; he earned a Master of Arts in Education |
| 11 | | Administration from the University of Illinois in |
| 12 | | Urbana-Champaign, and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from |
| 13 | | Southern Illinois University in Carbondale; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, He worked for Springfield School District 186 for |
| 15 | | 38 years and retired from the District in 2000, after serving |
| 16 | | for 23 years as the assistant principal at Springfield High |
| 17 | | School; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, He was an ordained elder in the Church of God in |
| 19 | | Christ, serving as assistant pastor and later as pastor of |
| 20 | | Prayer Wheel Church of God in Christ; he also served as pastor |
| 21 | | of Bethel Church of God in Christ in Bermuda; he remained a |
| 22 | | lifetime member of Prayer Wheel Church of God in Christ, |

| 1 | | currently pastored by his nephew, Reverend Juan L. Morrison, |
| 2 | | Jr., and was a member of Emmanuel Temple Church of God in |
| 3 | | Christ, pastored by his brother, Reverend Juan L. Morrison, |
| 4 | | Sr., Ph.D.; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and his |
| 6 | | sister, Margaret Ann Morrison; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Farries "Mickey" Henry Morrison, Jr. leaves |
| 8 | | behind his devoted wife of nearly 20 years, Betty Joe (Owens); |
| 9 | | his brother, Reverend Juan L. Morrison, Sr., Ph.D. |
| 10 | | (Clementine); his children, Lisa L. McClanahan (Hertis), |
| 11 | | Farries H. Morrison, III (Nancy), Yvette A. Morrison (Steven |
| 12 | | Williams), Michelle R. Casey (Ezra), Harold Hughes-Osby, |
| 13 | | Michael J. Morrison (Stephanie), Margaret M. Morrison, Mia A. |
| 14 | | Morrison, and Morrio Morrison (Natasha); his 18 grandchildren; |
| 15 | | his past wives, Carolyn Toney (Risby) and Reba Morrison |
| 16 | | (Reese); his step-children, Rodney D. Blackmon, Lytra R. |
| 17 | | Wilson, Shawn A. Blackmon (Shana), Kimberly Blackmon-Kouakeu, |
| 18 | | and Edgar Blackmon (Melanie); and his 15 step-grandchildren; |
| 19 | | therefore, be it

| 20 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL |
| 21 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 22 | | his friends and family, the passing of Farries "Mickey" Henry |
| 23 | | Morrison, Jr.; and be it further
