| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Michael J. Waller | ||||||
| 4 | on the occasion of his retirement as the Lake County State's | ||||||
| 5 | Attorney; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Michael J. Waller received his bachelor of arts | ||||||
| 7 | degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1970, and his juris | ||||||
| 8 | doctorate degree from the University of Illinois in 1973, | ||||||
| 9 | graduating with honors as a member of the Order of the Coif; | ||||||
| 10 | and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Michael J. Waller served as a Lake County | ||||||
| 12 | Assistant State's Attorney from 1973 to 1979, and from 1979 to | ||||||
| 13 | 1986, he was in private practice in Waukegan; he returned to | ||||||
| 14 | the Lake County State's Attorney's Office as chief deputy in | ||||||
| 15 | 1986; he was appointed State's Attorney of Lake County in 1990, | ||||||
| 16 | and then elected State's Attorney in 1992, and has served to | ||||||
| 17 | the present in that position; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Michael J. Waller currently serves as president of | ||||||
| 19 | the NICASA and has been past president of the Illinois State's | ||||||
| 20 | Attorney's Association; he serves as chairman of the Lake | ||||||
| 21 | County Domestic Violence Council, the Lake County Juvenile | ||||||
| 22 | Justice Council, and the Lake County Criminal Justice | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Coordinating Committee; he is a member of the Lake County Bar | ||||||
| 2 | Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the | ||||||
| 3 | National District Attorneys Association; he served as an | ||||||
| 4 | appointed member of the Illinois Criminal Justice Information | ||||||
| 5 | Authority from 1991 to 2004, served as an appointed member of | ||||||
| 6 | Governor Ryan's Commission on Capital Punishment, and is | ||||||
| 7 | currently an appointed member of the Capital Punishment Reform | ||||||
| 8 | Study Committee; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Michael J. Waller resides in Waukegan with his | ||||||
| 10 | wife, Circuit Court Judge Jane Drew Waller, and his two sons, | ||||||
| 11 | Patrick and John, and two grandsons, Patrick and Benjamin; | ||||||
| 12 | therefore, be it

| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 14 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 15 | we congratulate Michael J. Waller on his retirement from his | ||||||
| 16 | position as Lake County State's Attorney and we thank him for | ||||||
| 17 | his service to the people of Lake County and the State of | ||||||
| 18 | Illinois and wish him well in his future endeavors; and be it | ||||||
| 19 | further

| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to Michael J. Waller as an expression of our respect | ||||||
| 22 | and esteem.
