HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Josiah Williams on being chosen as a member of the prestigious U.S. Army All-American Marching Band; and

WHEREAS, This selection is a national honor for outstanding musician-scholars as each year only 125 students with superior musical ability, academic achievement, and positive standing in the community are chosen by the National Association for Music Education from the thousands who apply to represent their state and local communities at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl; and

WHEREAS, Each student's acceptance to the band is announced at a press conference held at his or her school and hosted by the school's administration and a U.S. Army representative or officer; local media are informed of and often attend the event, which brings positive attention to the school and to music education; and

WHEREAS, The press conference for Josiah Williams was held on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at South High School in Downers Grove; and

WHEREAS, The chosen band members will be sent in January to San Antonio, Texas to perform for thousands of active-duty military members at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we are pleased to congratulate Josiah Williams on his being chosen as a member of the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Josiah Williams as an expression of our esteem and respect.
